Ana Parejo Belando

BIO

Ana Parejo Belando is a young singer, saxophonist, and improviser from Valencia whose artistic work moves between contemporary creation and Early music.

A multidisciplinary artist, always motivated to learn and explore new artistic territories, she began the Master of Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies (AVES) program at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in January 2026. She earned a Master in Voice with a composer-performer specialization with Stephan MacLeod (voice) and Gilbert Nouno (composition) at the Haute École de Musique de Genève (2023–2025), a Master in Saxophone with a specialization in contemporary music with Joshua Hyde (HEM, 2021–2023), a higher degree in classical and contemporary saxophone performance at ESMUC (Barcelona) with Nacho Gascón and Mariano García, where she also studied with Lorenzo Coppola (2017–2021), and a degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2013–2017).

Ana frequently collaborates with composers, engaging in co-creation projects. She has premiered works composed for her, including La sed by Hilario Flores-Coni (February 2025), Cuerpo/Mar by Florencia Novoa de Ferari (February 2025), and Traces by Pablo Andrés (June 2025).

As a SAXOPHONIST, she has performed with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Geneva Camerata, Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Frank Martin, and the Banda Municipal de Barcelona. She participated in the project Mutual Aid Music, led by trumpeter Nate Wooley, giving a concert at the AMR (Geneva, April 2025), and was invited to perform with her Duo Imminent at the Festival POTE (Besançon, November 2025) and at the Archipel Festival (Geneva, April 2024 and 2025). She also performed with Duo Imminent at the Mixtur Festival in Barcelona (October 2024) and at the premiere of the opera Hor by Luis Tabuenca at the Forum Wallis, Switzerland (June 2019).

As a SINGER, she has performed with [H]Éros Ensemble at the Laus Polyphoniae Festival in Antwerp (IYAP, August 2025). She participated in the production Dernière expédition au pays des merveilles by OperaLab (Comédie de Genève, January 2025) and in María de Buenos Aires (Grand Théâtre de Genève, October–November 2023). She worked with Pedro Memelsdorff in a concert focused on the music of Johannes Ciconia (April 2024).

In August 2025, she was selected to participate in the Voice Studio at the Darmstädter Ferienkurse.

As a COMPOSER, she premiered Dos notas, commissioned by Ensemble Contrechamps (Geneva, November 2025), A su suerte, performed with Hortense Airault (Duo Imminent) (Geneva, June 2025), Larmes, performing and conducting at the Octobre Musical de Carthage (Tunis, October 2024), her cycle Dentro de mí for voice and electronics (Geneva, June 2023/2024), her cycle Casa for saxophone, voice, and electronics (Geneva, June 2023), and her first piece Escena I in the Traces series concert (Geneva, February 2022).

Through various musical encounters, Ana has formed several chamber music groups. She is a founding member of Duo Imminent, focused on improvisation and collaborative composition with cellist Hortense Airault; of Trio Turbulences, dedicated to Baroque music with Tim Meulenbeld (cornetto) and Eric Meier (lute); and of Quatuor Amapola (saxophones), awarded at the prestigious Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2022.

Ana’s studies focus primarily on contemporary music. Her interest and curiosity for early music have led her to explore and immerse herself in the extensive repertoire of Italian and French Baroque music. She studied with Elisabeth Dobbin and Mónica Pustilnik at HEM and has attended masterclasses and received guidance from Carolina Gauna, Jill Feldman, Marc Mauillon, Barbara Zanichelli, and Sophie Daneman.

Additionally, she has extensive choral training and was a member of the Cor Jove de l’Orfeó Català and the Orfeó Català for several years. As a chorister, she has performed with artists such as Sir Simon Rattle, the London Symphony Orchestra, John Adams, François-Xavier Roth, Les Siècles, the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC), Serena Sáenz, and Rosalía, in venues including the Royal Albert Hall (London), Teatre Grec, L’Auditori, and Palau de la Música de Barcelona.

Throughout her career, she has received scholarships from the Fondation Hans Wilsdorf (Switzerland, 2022 and 2024), the Stiftung Zaczkowski (Switzerland, 2022), the AIE Scholarship (Spain, 2022), and the Anna Riera Scholarship (Barcelona, 2021).
